Top 5 Reasons to Select an ASE Certified Mechanic to Repair Your Car

It’s time. Your car needs a repair and you didn’t plan for it ahead – tsk, tsk. Now you need to find a good, dependable, quality mechanic, stat! Where do you go? How do you choose? There are many ways to evaluate mechanics and compare one against another, but one key way is to select an ASE Certified Mechanic. You’ve probably heard the phrase “ASE Certified” in relation to vehicles before, but what does it mean and why is it good? It refers to the National Institute for Automobile Service Excellence. The certification has been in existence since 1972 and here’s all you need to know about why you should only select an ASE Certified Mechanic to repair your car.

1) ASE Certified mechanics have to pass a specialized exam. There are eight different specialties available for a mechanic to choose to be certified in. The specialization could be in specific areas such as: engine repair, automotive trans/transaxle, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical / electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, or engine performance. Now, just passing an exam doesn’t necessarily make a mechanic qualified to work on your car; however, it does show that they have been educated in the specifics of how to diagnose and repair the components contained within their chosen specialty.

2) To be ASE Certified, you can’t just pass the exam. One is also required to have at least two years of ‘relevant’ work experience. Now we’re talking! So they have to pass a test and then work in the field for at least two years before they are eligible to be certified by the ASE.

3) The ASE also has higher levels of education, seriously, for mechanics. That’s something to be impressed with in any profession. The ability to, and the subsequent decision to pursue continuing education to become a Certified Master Mechanic shows me that this mechanic both loves his craft and appreciates that it’s an ever-changing field with these fast-paced technology advancements in the auto-making industry. An Master Mechanic has passed all eight specialty exams!

4) Ethics. In addition to the training and work-requirements, an ASE Certified Mechanic is held accountable to a commitment he or she has made to only engage in ethical business practices. Finally! A mechanic we can trust!

5) ASE Certified Mechanics are sought after by the most reputable dealerships and garages; why wouldn’t you demand the same level of professionalism and training that others in the industry require?

Seriously though, most mechanics are good honest citizens just trying to make a living doing something they enjoy or have always been good at. But we’ve all heard the horror stories of shiesters and crooks in the auto mechanic industry, and quite frankly it’s made us gun-shy. Asking for a mechanics certifications and only choosing ASE Certified Mechanics do perform your auto repairs will save you a tremendous amount of worry and headaches down the road. It’s nice to just not have to worry about whether it’s being done right and whether you’re being treated fair. An ASE Certified Mechanic takes the stress out of car repairs.

Getting Auto Parts Fitted by ASE-Certified Mechanics

Despite their size and apparent ruggedness, cars are actually fairly delicate pieces of machinery. If a part or two is installed by an inexperienced or inept hand, it’s almost certain that the car will perform poorly afterwards. That’s why many car owners have trouble looking for reliable mechanics, often depending on trial and error. If, however, your car repairs are done by a mechanic who has certification from the ASE, you won’t be having that problem anytime soon.

What’s the ASE?

In the same way that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) sets a high standard for manufacturers and companies to meet, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) sets the bar for the automotive service industry. The organization’s mission is to “improve the quality of vehicle repair and service,” and they do this by giving certification to properly trained and qualified professionals.

Don’t underestimate the testing administered by the ASE for certification. It’s a very stringent procedure, and the entire process of preparing for that test isn’t unlike the SAT for high school seniors. It’s a very big thing in the automotive service industry, and having that ASE certification is definitely a major credential for any mechanic. ASE is a name that has long been associated with high standards and excellence, and the organization goes to great lengths to protect that reputation.

What’s In It for You?

Were it not for the ASE, it’s very likely that the automotive service industry would’ve gone topsy-turvy. The ASE provided some semblance of structure and standards by which mechanics have to abide. Consequently, you get better and more consistent service as a customer, even when you decide to transfer mechanics.

A mechanic that has earned ASE certification has proven himself (or herself) capable of handling most of the tasks involved in repairing and maintaining a car. Only competent and skilled mechanics are able to pass the ASE testing and certification procedure. Thus, when you’re presented with ASE certification, you know that you’ll be getting your money’s worth in terms of service.

Who’s Qualified, Who’s Not?

Because of the prestige and value attached to certification from the ASE, few mechanics hide the fact that they’ve earned their own badge. You can easily spot certified mechanics walking around, sporting their ASE patches on their clothes or coveralls. Establishments that offer auto repair also prominently advertise the fact that they have ASE-certified mechanics, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding them.

You should try as much as possible to get your car serviced at auto shops that employ only ASE-certified mechanics. Such shops do exist, and their high employment requirements are as good a guarantee you can get for excellent service and competent staff. You also get the assurance that whatever job you’d like done will be accomplished correctly the first time around. However, expect to pay more at those shops because their rates are invariably higher than those at uncertified establishments. If you don’t want to compromise quality, though, paying for mechanics certified by the ASE will definitely be worth the extra cash.

The Use of Homogenizers in the Food Industry

Today, the food processing industry uses a wide variety of high tech equipment in the processing and production of food and beverages. The benefits of using homogenizers are widely known throughout the food industry. The process of converting two separate immiscible liquids into an emulsion, or of reducing the size of the droplets in a preexisting emulsion, is known as homogenization. Homogenizers provide a more stable product, reduce the use of additives, provide a better shelf life, and give manufacturers the ability to perfect the composition of their products.

The process of homogenization allows the reduction and standardization of the particle size of fluid products such as in the making of sauces, fruit juices, beverages, flavors and more, under conditions of intense pressure, shear, turbulence, and acceleration to make them more stable and have an improved taste and texture. This process is achieved by forcing the product through a homogenizing valve at extreme pressure. Depending on the application, liquid products with suspended particles of varying sizes are processed through a high pressure homogenizer to obtain homogeneous micronized particles that normally range from 0.4 to 1 micron.

High-pressure homogenization is an essential sanitary process stage in the treatment of dairy, food, food ingredients, nutritional products, and much more. The mechanical devices known as homogenizers give manufacturers the technological support for dynamic high pressure homogenization. In the food industry, this process subjects the liquid to intense mechanical agitation. Manufacturers have custom engineered solutions and special versions for specific applications available to them that will meet their specific product needs. As well, these Homogenizers meet the requirements for any industry application.

Homogenization is often essential in preparing foods and is quite often used in the production of dairy and food products such as pastes, oils, animal fats, syrups, milk concentrates, puddings, purees, butters, baby foods, and much more. The actual composition of the product will vary according to the amount of pressure and the type of product. The general rule of thumb is the higher the processing pressure, the smaller the particles that are produced.

The fluid mechanical process known as homogenization involves the use of mechanical device homogenizers for the subdivision of droplets or particles into micron sizes to produce a stable emulsion or dispersion for further processing. After the process of homogenization is complete, the particles are a uniform size which normally ranges from 0.2 to 2 micron, depending on the operating pressure. Homogenizers have a reliable and proven design. For instance, they have accessible packing for simpler and quicker maintenance and they offer pneumatically controlled homogenizing valves.

Homogenizers are engineered to be completely reliable to minimize maintenance servicing and down time. Homogenizers are vital to any manufacturer in the food industry that requires the reduction of particle size for manufacturing of their foods and beverages. These devices are a critical part of any food processing plant and represent an important capital investment for the food and beverage processing markets. Fortunately, there are companies that sell highly efficient homogenizers and high shear mixers that will meet the needs and requirements of the food processing and manufacturing industries.

Finding A Quality Auto Mechanic

Much like a doctor, an automobile mechanic is somebody we are all going to have to have in our lives. We all have cars, cars that will break down from time to time. In order to save money, it is important that you find somebody that you trust, who will do a good job, and only fix that which you need fixed, without trying to talk you into a dozen other things that you don’t need for the sole purpose of padding the bill.

The appeal of the dealership is the name recognition. The obvious plus is that you are taking it somewhere with mechanics who work on your type of car all the time and are well versed in that particular model. A GM mechanic works on GM cars all day long, which is a plus. The downside is that dealerships tend to be much more expensive than other shops.

In my opinion, the local shop is the way to go. Local mechanics have their reputation on the line, and aren’t going to do anything to tarnish that. They are going up against the dealerships and national chains, and they have to create that level of trustworthiness without the promotional and advertising budget the big boys have. This is only done by word of mouth, fueled by quality work, good attitude, and solid customer retention.

When it comes to finding a good mechanic, word of mouth is the best way to find somebody. Talk to friends and neighbors and see who they use. Check with local car clubs or enthusiasts and see who they trust their prized wheels with. Some newspapers or area magazines also run “Best In Town” articles, which may include automotive repair shops or individual mechanics.

A good mechanic will also have the proper credentials, such as affiliation with industry groups such as the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Automotive Service Association (ASA) or the Triple A. Of course no membership in any organization is a guarantee against incompetence, but it does let you know that the mechanic has had a considerable amount of training to qualify for membership.

Does the mechanic give you options designed to save you money? This is one surefire way to identify a good, trustworthy mechanic.

And my favorite measuring stick….will the mechanic let you sit nearby and watch your car being repaired? A good mechanic will. Some things never change.

As a rule, local mechanics know that they may be seeing your car again, so they will take time to get to know it and you. Contrast that with a dealership where you may take your car in ten times and have it worked on by twelve different people. There is a personal touch to the local shop that not even the best equipped dealership can duplicate.

Certified Auto Mechanics Are The Best Answer

The modern cars and automobiles today resemble very little characteristics from the past century car types and models. If you are one of those people who owns an old or vintage car, you will surely have a problem looking for the right guys who can fix it. Of course, the modern cars have parts and services that are easy to find especially on the internet, but a car owner needs to choose the best and most experienced mechanic to do the work.

Certified auto mechanics will now enter the scene. Over the past decades, you have seen the mechanics as someone who have greasy and dirty fingernails on a stained overall. Although you see him as a person who is very dirty, you will be amazed at how they can solve a car problem with a miraculous number of wrenches. If you think that what they can do can also be done yourself, you are perfectly mistaken by this belief. The certified auto mechanics have their own trainings and education on how to do the car works and it is not as simple as you may think. It requires a lot of hard work and interest for the job before succeeding in the industry.

Even though auto techs and computers do almost all the car works, they are beginning to stand out and make the auto mechanics leave the spot light. You can never by-pass the excellent and precise work of a living person. A computer can always fail but the knowledge of these mechanics stays within them forever. They can predict the damage in just one look rather than running a series of tests on your car. The certified auto mechanics have personal experiences that they can easily apply on their daily task. However, the computerized diagnostics cannot be taken for granted since the modern age requires people to use them and no one wants to be left behind.

Several associations and programs are offering the certifications and trainings for mechanics who want to be legalized and hired to larger companies. Of course, a person with the right education and certification is the perfect operator of computers if the shops are possessing automated diagnostics and repairs. The main reason why the mechanics stay competitive by undergoing these programs and trainings are when the clients are really looking for a certified auto mechanic. This knowledge provides a higher percentage of being hired for the job.

This system surely provides benefits from the people involved in the auto repair industry. The training will give the mechanics proper skills and experience while on the other hand, the customer will have quality work. The certified auto mechanics are the perfect guys that can bring out the best in your cars. They can maintain and repair it by themselves without depending on the modern machines that are beginning to conquer the automotive world.

The Anti-Dumping Case About the Fastener Industry

It has been more than one month since the Ministry of Commerce of China made the anti-dumping final award on the production of fasteners from the EU. But this anti-dumping war has not yet been settled.

This is China’s first anti-dumping case for fasteners to foreign countries. Although the final determination about the anti-dumping duties is at the 6.1% ~ 26% range, but it is far below the expected figure of 64.4%. According to the Ministry of Commerce, EU has made a complaint with the WTO. It shows that the related industries should make preparations for long-term operations. The situation that before the fasteners enterprises in China is not optimistic.

Fastener is commonly known as the screw or nut. It belongs to the mechanical parts. It is called “rice of industry” in the field. The production of the Chinese fasteners is the number 1 in the world, and half of the products are exported. But these products are mostly low-end. Although in recent years, fastener enterprises began to seek restructuring initiatively, but they are still attacked by EU products.

The Deputy Secretary-General Zhangfeng introduces that some EU companies lower prices dramatically to dump high-end fastener products in China. Except for this, they initiate the trade remedy investigations again and abuse of anti-dumping rules. They impose high anti-dumping duties on our fasteners products.

If the high-end fastener products are dumped into China, our fastener enterprises have to compete at a low level which will lead to the delay of industrial upgrading. It is under this situation that China initiates anti-dumping investigations on the imported fasteners from EU.

A leader of the association said that the final award that was made on the EU anti-dumping fasteners by the Ministry of Commerce of China will further accelerate the restructuring of China’s fastener industry. Moreover, it will also improve the development of the high-end products which will play a very important role in promoting the sustained and healthy development of the fastener industry.

Although the above mentioned determination provides a great encouragement to the fastener industry, there is still some regret left. For example, the tax rate still has a certain distance from the expected one.

In order to compete with the foreign products and revitalize the basic component industry, the risk of developing new products should be reduced. Meanwhile, the users and manufacturers should work together to look for alternative products. If we always provide high-end products through imports, then our goal will never be achieved.
